Finance Manager Recruitment:

Lisson Grove and Woolwell Medical Centres are looking to recruit a new Finance Manager due to the forthcoming retirement of the current long serving manager.

This is a senior role within a small management team at the surgery and we would expect the candidate to have the drive, skills and confidence to work autonomously within that team. Managing surgery finances calls for someone who can manage multiple areas and responsibilities as well as the varied and changeable income streams that the practice relies on.

Ideally, we are looking for a candidate who has experience of working with GP finances, but this is not an absolute necessity. It is anticipated that there will be an extended handover period to ensure that all aspects are fully covered.

The final job description will depend on the successful candidate as we are keen to utilise any skills the candidate brings with them as well as developing interest areas. Below is a list of some of the major aspects of the role that the current holder is responsible for, this is not exhaustive and subject to change. Like most small businesses all the management team have primary and secondary responsibilities that are often shared and lie outside traditional role demarcations. This brings challenges but also variety and interest to the day, working in a shared and supportive environment.

Full responsibility
Accounts – Full responsibility and working with our accountants for yearly accounts.
Budgets and management reporting – for PM and Partners
Cash flow – all aspects including monitoring and forecasting
Payroll – For all staff (IRIS), PAYE, locums
Pensions – For all permanent and locum staff
Debtors / Creditors – Standard business
Partners finances – managing and reporting
Claims – collection and submission of data, tracking and income (Data is generally created by others)
Part responsibility
Procurement and Contract management – quotes, monitoring and managing (Decision making shared)
Personnel – Leave, TOIL, workforce statistics and similar
Facilities and premises – Insurance, utilities, related contracts
Health and safety – Records, contracts and shared management.

Ideally we would expect the successful candidate to have:
3 years minimum experience within a business finance environment at a responsible level
AAT or equivalent qualified or demonstrable experience to that level
High level Maths, English and IT skills
GP Practice experience and/or knowledge OR suitable transferable experience
Financial Administration experience
Excellent communication skills – written, verbal and IT
Ability to be self-motivated and work autonomously
Meticulous and contemporaneous attention to detail
Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent strands of financial responsibility
Confidence to deal with wide range of stakeholders and to negotiate where required.

Terms and conditions:
This is a part time role (20-25 hours a week) with flexibility on the days and times.
Salary in region of £12-£16 an hour dependent on experience and skills and is eligible for the NHS Pension scheme.
