Lisson Grove and Woolwell work closely with the local health and educational establishments to provide training and experience for health professionals of the future, a vital part of the work that we do.

Please see the sections below for further details whether you are a patient or potential student/trainee.

If you are a patient you may be asked if you mind someone observing your appointment, this will typically be by a student or trainee but can occasionally be other health professionals learning about different aspects of general practice. In this situation they will be supervised at all times and guarantee confidentialirt in the same manner as a qualified clinician. If however you would prefer not to be seen by a student please let us know. 

Lisson Grove and Woolwell Medical Centre is approved to work with students in year one, two and five of their medical degrees. GP registrars and international registrars. 

We work with Plymouth Medical School and University Hospital Plymouth and other local NHS providers. We do not generally work with students from outside the area. 

We do have occasional apprenticeships, if we have openings they will be advertised on our Vacancies page. 

There may be some limited opportunities for other work experience or some volunteering options. This is very dependent on what you want and what we can support at the time. Please contact us with some brief details and we will see if we can help. 

All our student placements are arranged via PMS, they will let you know if we are one of the practices that you will undertake your community placements. 

We are unable to offer work experience of a clinical nature or allow school work experience students to observe consultations. We do offer some limited work experience for 6^th form students in the Reception or Admin areas. This is only for students of Eggbuckland Community College who we have an established relationship with. If you are an Eggbuckland student and are interested please contact The Lighthouse in the first instance who will make contact with us.
